Troubleshooting videos

Our newer films are encoded in .mp4 format, which gives a much higher quality result than .wmv or .rm formats of a similar file size. .mp4 is quite new and as such is not yet recognised by Real Player or Windows Media Player.

Media players

The ideal players to use are the very latest free versions of

If you already have Quicktime installed, make sure it is the latest version. If downloading the latest version, make sure you uninstall the earlier version you are replacing first.

Reports from members say that both players work very well but VLC may have slightly better sound quality. VLC is also universal and will play just about any kind of media file.

Downloading

Our films are designed to be downloaded and viewed, not viewed as streaming video.

Our films should be downloaded as normal, (right click, "Save As" on Windows or 'Crtl + Click' or "File -> Save As" on MacOS/X). If you see an additional .mpg or .mpeg file extension added to the .mp4 file extension that?s already there, delete it. This seems to happen most often with Windows XP.

Removing any extra .mpg from the filenames of films you have already downloaded so they end only in .mp4 should make those work also.

Viewing

To view the clip you have downloaded, all you have to do it locate it from where you have saved it, right click and select "open with" and then select either your VLC Player or your Quicktime Player and it should play for you.
